Can we keep using our existing tools for compliance?
Yes. Your existing systems can provide much of the evidence you need. A reviewed change in your code repository or a restore test in a ticket may be a better record than a manually recreated screenshot. Start with the work you already do and identify what it proves.
Map a record to a specific check
Take a requirement such as reviewing changes before release. Decide what evidence would show that the process operated for the systems and period under review. A repository link alone says little; a record of the change, reviewer and approval is more useful.
Check who can access the record and how long the source system retains it. If tickets are deleted after a short period, a link may be unusable by audit time. Retain an appropriate export where necessary, with enough context to understand it.
Submit evidence through the API
Yrso supports API evidence submissions for checks. You can build custom automations around the tools you already use, such as a CI job that submits a report or a scheduled script that collects a backup result.
Define the check and reporting period before building the integration. Submit the result and relevant files, and make failures visible to an owner. A failed integration must not leave everyone assuming the check passed.
Keep submission credentials scoped and protected. Review the payload so that logs or reports do not unnecessarily disclose secrets or customer data. An automated submission still needs an appropriate conclusion about what the evidence demonstrates.
Reuse manual evidence through slots
Some evidence will always involve a person: a meeting record, an approved supplier assessment or a restore test result. Evidence slots are yrso’s primary way to reuse that non-automated evidence.
Give the slot an owner and collection schedule. Link it to the checks it supports, then submit the file for the relevant period. The same record can support checks for different standards when the scope and timing match.
Reusing a file does not make it sufficient for every requirement. A backup job log cannot become proof of a successful restore merely because it is linked to another check.
Start with a recurring collection task
Choose a report someone currently downloads by hand. Document its source, purpose and review procedure, then automate that collection first. Keep the manual route available while you check the integration’s results.
